J. Mikael Studios

Studio Policies

Everything you need to know before, during and after your session.

Parking & Arrival

Where should I park?

The studio is located at 6101 E. Washington Street, Indianapolis, IN 46219.

Please park in the first 3 parking spots designated for J. Mikael Studios on the side of the building. If they are full, please park in the back of the building.

If you park in The Cut or Maximum Grow designated parking spots, you will be at risk of being towed and will be responsible for a $150 towing fee. Please ask if you have any questions about parking.

If you are renting the studio, you are responsible for communicating this information to your clients and protecting them from being towed.

When and how should I show up for my photoshoot?

I recommend arriving 15 minutes early before your scheduled shoot time to prepare. During this time you can change into your outfit and touch up your makeup, hair, nails, body lotion, etc.

Once your scheduled shoot time begins, we will hit the stage, begin lighting tests and then shoot.

What happens if I show up late?

The time you book is your time. If you show up 15 minutes late to a 30-minute shoot, you will have the remaining 15 minutes to shoot, and then your shoot is over. We have a tight schedule and want to respect other clients’ time.

If I have extra time after your scheduled shoot time, we can extend for $20 for every 15 minutes of additional shoot length.

Preparing for Your Session

What should I communicate before my photoshoot?

Please let me know:

  • Which color backdrop(s) you would like to shoot on
  • What type of props you are looking for, or if you would like suggestions
  • Any photo inspiration pictures
  • Any specific type of lighting you would like, etc.

Basically, we should both be on the same page about how we are going to execute your shoot before you arrive.

Do I need to bring anything to my session?

I encourage you to bring any items you would like photographed. Feel free to bring your own props if you want a specific look. You can also bring a friend or two to cheer you on, help with poses, etc.

What can I/we wear?

You can wear whatever best fits the theme of your photoshoot, whether it is casual, dressed up, lingerie, etc.

Can I bring friends or family with me to my shoot?

Yes! You are more than welcome to bring a few friends or family members. If you are bringing kids, please make sure they are supervised and are not interfering with any photoshoots in the studio or breaking any property.

Booking, Deposits & Payment

Can I reschedule my shoot date?

Yes, you can reschedule your shoot date, but you will lose your deposit and will be required to pay another deposit for a future shoot date. When you book a shoot, the deposit reserves your time, and we don’t allow anyone else to book during that time.

Does the $100 non-refundable deposit go toward my final price?

Yes, your $100 non-refundable deposit is deducted from your final shoot balance. Of your $100 non-refundable deposit, $60 is paid to reserve studio rental time and $40 is to reserve time on my photography calendar.

When should I pay the remaining balance, and what forms of payment do you accept?

The remaining balance is due at the end of your photoshoot. We prefer cash but also accept Cash App, Zelle, Venmo, Apple Pay, PayPal, and credit or debit cards.

Your Photos

How many photos will I receive?

You will receive the number of photos included in the package you selected.

  • Additional retouched photos are $40 each.
  • Unedited photos are $10 each, or $100 for all of the unedited photos from your shoot.
When will my retouched photos be delivered?

Your retouched images will be delivered within 10 days after you select which photos you would like retouched.

If you’d like your photos retouched and delivered sooner than the standard 10 days, I can deliver them faster for an additional fee:

  • $40 per image for 2-day delivery
  • $20 per image for 4-day delivery
  • $10 per image for 7-day delivery

The retouching turnaround time begins once you have confirmed via email that your final image selections are complete and any additional payments (if applicable) have been received. This ensures that I am working on your final choices and can deliver your images on time without delays or revisions.

Photo download and access terms

The Client will be provided with access to the final edited photographs via a secure online gallery. The Client agrees to download all photographs within ninety (90) days from the date the gallery link is delivered. After this period, the online gallery will be deactivated, and the Photographer will no longer be obligated to maintain the gallery or the photos.

It is the Client’s responsibility to ensure timely download and secure storage of all provided photographs. The Photographer shall not be held liable for any photographs not downloaded within the specified period. Additional fees may apply for reactivation or retrieval of photos after the 90-day period.

Creative Discretion & Revisions

What is your creative discretion and revisions policy?

This policy seeks to maintain the integrity and authenticity of J. Mikael Studios’ photography services by granting the photographer full creative discretion based on J. Mikael Studios’ unique style and expertise.

Creative Discretion

Clients understand that they are hiring J. Mikael Studios for its distinctive style and creative vision. Therefore, all photos delivered will be representative of the photographer’s artistic interpretation and expertise. The photographer will work collaboratively with the client prior to the photoshoot to understand and align on expectations for the creative brief.

No Revisions Based on Style

Once final photographs are delivered to the client, they are considered final and reflect the photographer’s best work in line with their style. Revisions will not be made based on the client’s subjective preferences that deviate from the photographer’s recognized style. Feedback that addresses objective issues (e.g., technical flaws) will be reviewed and addressed at the discretion of the photographer.

Client Acknowledgement

By engaging J. Mikael Studios’ photography services, clients acknowledge and accept the terms of this policy. This ensures that both parties are aligned in their expectations and that the creative process is respected. We value our unique artistic approach and believe in delivering high-quality work that aligns with our established style. This policy helps maintain the authenticity and quality of our services while setting clear expectations for our clients.

Clients are encouraged to review J. Mikael Studios’ portfolio prior to booking to ensure alignment with the photographer’s style.

Studio Care & Liability

What if I, my clients or associates break something during a photoshoot?

For example: strobe lights, props, paper backdrops, furniture, etc.

From the time you, your clients and associates enter the studio until you and they leave, you are responsible for any damage that you or they may cause, and you will be responsible for paying for any damages that you or your clients and associates cause during the studio rental period. Damage fees are due within 14 days.

You and your associates assume responsibility for, and waive liability for, any self-inflicted harm while utilizing the studio space.

Please let me know if you have any further questions, comments or concerns before your shoot.
